RJX Hobby make the superb HURRICAN 50 helicopter as recently reveiwed by Nigel
Cartwright in the January 2007 Model Helicopter World magazine.
Following the excellent reveiw in Model Helicopter World of the
pre-production model, the new 2007 production versions look even better. The
build of the model is also made nice and easy as the kit includes a "proper" 74
page fully illtrated instruction book, written in clear English! This
publication includes set-up advice for both MPM and eCCPM versions as well as
extensive spares listings and drawings for future reference.
This excellent new model has a stacked G10 main frame construction, and
features a full metal head set - as standard! RJX have chosen G10 as their main
frame material, as it is more crash resistant than carbon fibre, is less noisy,
and is less likely to promote any unwanted "glitches" from the radio system.
Included with every kit, are all the parts needed to build the helicopter as
an eCCPM (electronic Cyclic Collective Pitch Mixing) or MPM (Mechanical Pitch
Mixing) giving the builder an option when constructing the kit.
Each kit also features an all alloy head, swash plate, double ball-raced
alloy mixing levers, etc. These alloy parts are top class, not cast but machined
from solid billet to the highest standard.
The model has a rotor diameter of 1339mm, and a target weight of 3.2-3.6 kg,
and it is capable of F3C or 3-D style flying when using the recommended OS 50
Hyper engine.
Although most builders will probably go for an OS 50 Hyper engine as the
power unit, the Hurrican can be converted to electric power. Like the OS 50
Hyper powered version, the electric version delivers blistering performance, and
it is capable of achieving good 3D performance, and flight times of up to ten
minutes if flown a little less violently!
