This guide will show you how to test your Li-Po battery's voltage, and even the voltage for each individual battery cell.

 The only tools that are required to test your battery is the battery itself and a voltage meter, readily available from most electronic stores.

 You will use the balance charger connecter (charge lead) on the battery to do the voltage test.

 Each pair of wires indicates the voltage for each individual cell, i.e.:

 -Red wire and the black wire right next to it will give voltage reading for cell three.

 -Middle two black wires give off voltage reading for cell two.

 -Last two black wires gives off voltage reading for cell one.

 (Yes, the overlapping is normal.).

 Note: If you should get a negative number, for example -11.61V, it means your red and black probes are reversed (in each other's spot), if you exchange places you will get the same number without the negative, which is the voltage value.

 Notice the metal contacts on the side of the of the plug, those are what you will use to test the voltage.

 Now take the red testing probe and press it against the metal contact for the red wire on the connecter.

 Then take the black testing probe and press it against the metal contact furthest away from the red wire.

 Your two testing probes should be touching the metal contacts on opposite sides from each other at both ends.

 Your meter should now display a value for the voltage of the battery, this value is the voltage for the entire battery for the battery being tested.

 Note: This is considered a low voltage reading for a three cell battery.

 Now move the red testing probe down to the metal contact right next to where the black testing probe is, as shown in the photo.

 The reading you will get on the meter will be for the first cell in your battery.

 Move each testing probes down to the next metal contact from where they were, the two testing probes should be right next to each other.

 This new reading on the meter is for the second cell in your battery.

 Now once more, move each testing probes one contact down along the row.

 This reading will display the voltage for the last cell in your battery.

 What you have learned here today can be applied to larger Li-Po batteries with more cells than the one shown here.

 The testing method is exactly the same, you simply have more connecters to test.

 Some key things to keep in mind:

 Be careful about where your testing probes are touching.

 Most importantly, never allow the two probes to touch each other when they are in conact with the battery as this will very likely cause a short circuit.
